I'm getting a lot of requests recently for ideas for Gift wording. Let's face it, the majority of us have already set up a happy home and have it full of lovely things when we get married, so we perhaps don't need the traditional toaster, kettle and dining sets.
But... the question remains, people still expect to give a gift at a wedding and for most of us, the gift of choice these days is money, and usually towards our honeymoon. So, how do you politely as for money from your friends and family?
Here are some ideas:
Short & Sweet
We've been asked what we would like as a gift and the answer is simple, you, at our wedding having a great time. But if you wish to give us a little something, then we would greatly appreciate a small donation towards our honeymoon / home renovations / new house.
The most important thing for us is your presence during the day to celebrate our marriage and gifts are by no means expected. If however, you do feel you would like to give something, then some spending money to enjoy whilst on our dream honeymoon would be very much appreciated.
We would be delighted to simply share our special day with you. However, if we are honoured with a gift from you, may we respectfully request cash or Maldivian Rufiyaa to spend on our honeymoon.
We would prefer your wedding presence, rather than you wedding presents,
But if you really do insist, please visit our wedding gift list.
(you can then either have a traditional shop list or a honeymoon contribution list created)
We made a commitment, some time ago
Together through lift, we were destined to go
To save you looking, shopping and buying,
We have an idea, we hope you like trying,
Come to our wedding, to wish us both well,
And please make a donation to our wishing well.
We've been together a few years now,
We have pots and pans and linen and towels,
We have glasses and toasters, really quite a few,
So instead of more gifts, we suggest this to you,
If it doesn't offend and won't send you running,
What we would really appreciate quite simply, is money,
We know choosing gifts can be such a pain,
And this way there is no chance of bringing the same!
We do not wish for presents, we hope you do no mind,
We haven't got a gift list, there's nothing we could find,
Your presence at our wedding, will give our day a lift,
Your company is priceless, we accept it as our gift.
But if you did want to give something to help us on our way,
Some money in a card would truly make our day.
We have been together for 20 years so the best present you can give us in joining us to celebrate. However, if you do insists then John Lewis vouchers wouldn't go amiss!
Your presence is present enough! However, if you should wish to contribute in another way, we would be delighted to receive a gift chosen by you, or John Lewis vouchers.
Have you got any other ideas? How did you ask your guests?
All of the gift details can be included on our Information cards, which cost £35 for the digital artwork which you can then either print yourself at home, or simply forward on to your own professional printer. To see our designs, go to our site or for more info, email me on email@example.com

It's been a while so I thought we'd take a second this week to re-introduce ourselves so you know just who we are and you can picture our lovely faces when you imagine your wonderful wedding tea towels being created!
So, who are we? Well, I am Karen and the other half of our wedding tea towel empire is Ben. We also have three little helpers - Archie (6), Lola (4) and Hettie (1).
It's been nearly 7 whole years since we got married and decided we'd build a little website to see if any one else liked our wedding tea towel idea and hooray, because you did. We've had the massive pleasure of working with loads of lovely couples (name drop incoming, brace yourself...) including some you might recognise like Dawn O'Porter & Chris O'Dowd, fashion and beauty blogger / vlogger Fleur De Force and a few more I can't tell you about (shhh!).
Long after we've gone in The National Museum of Tea Towels, we want a place in there as the Inventors of the Wedding Tea Towel. I'll try and find a better photo to go with our display in the meantime.
If you want to join our exclusive gang then all you need to do is take a look at our design page and choose your favourite, email me on firstname.lastname@example.org and then we can get going!
So big waves to you all and speak soon
Karen & Ben xx
