It's nearly time - baby arrival IMMINENT!

So, the arrival of our new baby is pretty much... well... happening really really soon. We are still here though and still taking orders so do get in touch. We've updated our website with a sample and order request form which we'll be checking regularly throughout the next few months. Hopefully all the info you'll need will be either on the website or in the form but if not, email us and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

PS This is NOT me in the picture. I'm not just saying that. It's really not me. Honest. Now I've gone on about it so long you probably think that it is definitely me. I do wish I knew where to get one of these tops though.

I REALLY wish I had a picture of Santa holding one of our tea towels right now. But I don't, so this will have to do instead. Will get on to this for next year.

Anyway, important news - the deadline for orders to be placed for pre Christmas delivery is... THIS THURSDAY. Thursday 2nd December. So if you want your towels before the big guy comes knocking then what are you waiting for, hurry up!

HELLO - New employee incoming...

So... Ben and I were just sitting around a few months ago thinking 'you know, with two businesses and a toddler, we don't have enough on at the mo. I know! Let's have another baby' and so one thing led to another and here the little button is! Arrrrrrrrrr!

Our all new crying, poo'ing, gurgling, probably never-sleeping employee will be arriving in February next year SO if you think you'd like your tea towels around this time then please try and order before Jan 2012 as we'll probably be reducing our output for a few months to welcome the little dude in to the world properly.

BLOG - A Brides Perspective on wedding tea towels

It's all very well and good us spending every waking minute babbling on about how amazing WE think our wedding tea towels are but it's even better when the happy words come from one of our tea towely couples!

We worked with Sarah and Andy towards the end of last year, a bespoke design, to celebrate their summer fete picnic wedding party in June and Sarah is now working with her amazing wedding planner, Helen Carter, to blog about her experiences from the one perspective that really matters - the brides! (speaking on behalf of the groom too I am sure!). It really is a fascinating read, especially for all you couples out there looking for hints and tips.

A tea towel tour.

Have you ever stopped, right there in your tracks, and just thought to yourself 'blimey, I wonder how those amazing guys at TOWTT, turn their tea towel designs in to actual tea towels'. YES, YOU HAVE? Then wonder no more, all is about to be revealed...

First, we have to use our artwork to make a screen (they are screen printed after all). The screen looks like this:

Then, the screen is popped in to this machine, where the colour is added, in this example, red. The colours are all mixed by hand to make sure we get the exact shade that we are looking for.

Once the colour is added, it covers the whole screen and then it imprints on to the tea towel (you can't see it but there is a lovely new unprinted tea towel sitting right under that screen).

And there it is. It comes off the printer and goes in to the dryer.

Then we all stand back and admire our handy work.

And that is how you make an Original Wedding Tea Towel! Don't try it at home kids.

Customer Feedback - Happy, happy, happy!

So, we've been asking our lovely clients to fill out a little questionnaire for us once their tea towels have arrived to see how they're feeling. And the news is G.O.O.D! No, it's better than good. It's amazing!

92% of our clients were the max. happy they could be with our service (ah HA but what about the other 8% you might be thinking, well they were still - quite simply - happy). Just not quite as deliriously happy as the other 92%!

AND... there's more:

98% of couples experienced the maximum amount of happiness when they received their finished towels. (again, don't worry, the remaining 2% were still - happy).

So all in all, good good good good happy happy GOOD! I didn't really have a supporting picture to express my feelings about this post SO this feedback makes me more happy than when we built this human pyramid, and you can see how happy we all look there!

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH: Canvas Love Bags

In the final days of our wedding planning we totted everything up and it turned out we'd underspent (if you can call it that). This meant we had a little bit of money in the budget to do something really special for our guests. We wanted to give something back to them to thank them for coming.

After going to a few weddings ourselves that year, and having a few bad heads in the morning we thought a kind of Hangover Cure might be a cool idea to give to everyone as they left. So we took the design from our towel, made our Whale look a little bit sad, and sent that to the bag printers. Then it was off to Costco to fill them with goodies.

We bought lots of as many bottles of water, packs of chewing gum, breakfast bars and chocolate we could afford and spent an evening stuffing the bags.

They were very popular, and everyone took one, and the bags themselves crop up all the time. We're often visiting friends and we can see it still in use. It's nice to think people are getting some genuine use out of them, it makes it feel like a good investment.

So this, month we've been a quiet on the blog and Twitter, but we've been soooooo busy - we smashed our weekly sales record of 5, and hit a colossal 8 orders in one week. It's just been amazing, and it means little Timmy can have a lovely Christmas, he might even get an orange!

Anyway in the middle of all these orders came a great piece of press from the lovely little magazine Perfect Wedding, they asked us a while ago if they could feature the Towel, and of course we said "ermmm, can we think about it", no not really, we said "yes, do you want me to drive up there right now and bring you a sample!". Anyway, we forgot about it in the busyness, of the business, and this week we picked up a copy and there we were: Number 1 in the Alternative Ideas section - NUMBER 1! We couldn't believe it.

It's been a heck of a week at the Wedding Tea Towel dining room table office, I think we're on to do the most invites in a week, ever! The record is 4, and there's a chance we might do 5 this week if all goes to plan. Amazing! I thought we'd hit a seasonal lull as well.

Anyway to celebrate here's another of our bespoke designs, this time for a wedding in New Zealand. Belinda and Hugh wanted something that made a feature out of where their wedding was, and also incorporated 2 little figures that they were pretty mysterious about, but we got them on there. We love a challenge! The weirder the ideas, the bigger the challenge, the better the invite.

10 Things we learnt from our first Wedding Fayre

At the weekend we did out first Wedding Fayre, it was good fun, but we were maybe a little under prepared. Here's 10 things we learnt for next time.

1. Don't take a toddler, the boy in the above picture is notorious for hell raising (think a baby Oliver Reed), and he did his best to bring the whole thing crashing down. Then, just as we thought we had him settled he dived head first off a chair and screamed the joint down.

2. The scene is tight, everyone there seemed to know each other and we felt like fresh blood. We got some really helpful advice but ultimately felt like novices.

3. Some couples aren't getting married for two years! I mean who knows what invite you're going to want in two years time, and you have to feel a bit sorry for their H2B's.

4. It's a long day. We need a thermos, some sandwiches, a book, medical supplies, a book about medical supplies, an internet connection, a flash light, change of underwear and a helmet. OK, maybe not all that, but we need to pack more than one pack of Snacker-Jacks.

5. Gaffer Tape is the unsung hero of the Fayre. My husband knew it would be though and he made me pack some, I told him it wasn't necessary, but I was wrong on this occasion.

6. You're invisible to some people, and that means they don't want a tea towel for an invite, and that's fair enough, so there's no need to stare at them until they acknowledge you.

7. You need a good opening gambit. Asking people if they're getting married is a bit pointless, it took me about an hour to figure that one out. We need to think of a leading question to draw people in, like real sales person.

8. Remember you're probably friends with most of the people in the room on Twitter. Nuff said.

9. Don't eat too much sample cake. The people on the cake stand aren't idiots, there's only so many times you walk past pretending to be a punter before they clock you. (A modest estimate would be 5 times).

10. The Wedding Tea Towel is a bit of a weird idea. We forget that working with it everyday, but to some people it seemed like we were flogging a dead horse. One lady actually made the effort to come over and tell us that 'She didn't know if she liked the idea or not'. We were pretty dumbstruck, but ultimately we didn't know if we liked her or not either.

Roll on the next one, we're going to be prepared this time.

If you are a West African bride, you are soooo gonna get this. I mean how many ‘Peju is 2′ face clothes, handkerchiefs, bags, towels, bowls etc has your mother got at home?…c’mon, be truthful now! And the thing is those items are super tacky that you just want to hide them away and not put them on show as mummy does.

I mean, I'm not a West Africa Bride, but it sounds amazing, it's a tradition I had no idea we'd tapped into and something I'm going to research this morning. Bespoke Design Feature: Picnic Wedding

From time to time, when I've got a spare moment and when the client allows it I'm going to post some of our bespoke creations, so you can see all the other designs we've done.

This was for an English County Wedding theme, so we decided on a lovely picnic theme with bunting, birdies and a pair of kicked of heels. Lucy was lovely to work with and I'm sure her wedding was perfect.

Remember these designs aren't for sale, they're exclusive to the clients, but they might give you some inspiration.

Become an Agent and make some money

So, as Wedding Tea Towels beings to break new territories we're starting to need some local knowledge. While it's no problem for us to print the towels in the UK and ship them all over the world, it's kind of expensive, and that's not great for you.

What we want to try and do going into next year is to set up some agents in our busiest areas, so, the US, Canada and Australia, and work with those people to set up a localised versions of the business in their countries that they can run and make money from, while we handle the design work back here in Blighty.

We've only gone and gone international

We're back from honeymoon and normal service has now resumed. While we were away though we seem to have accidentally gone global, securing orders from France, New Zealand, Finland and Australia, we're not sure what's happened, but we're more than happy to extend our hands across the water.

It's a great welcome home, we're super busy at the minute, so it's taking our mind off our holiday-blues.

We all want a bigger heart right? Too right, so we've reworked the Heart Design a little bit, it's not a massive change, but we've just fattened the heart up, and made the little star a shooting star.

Don't you just think that the more you spend on your wedding, the more it ends up being exactly like everyone elses?

A few low cost ideas can make all the difference and in our opinion are the things people remember - take our wedding for example, everyone... and I mean everyone, remembers the £6 Lego cake topper that we built ourselves in the Lego Shop (fun!)... oh and the tea towels of course! Back to the topper though, it had flowers on it originally but they got lost somewhere along the way :o( One day I'll get over it, I'm sure...

I think we might have started something here, our good friend Abbie sent her invitations out at the start of the month and her friends RSVP'ed in the most interesting ways, have a look for yourself here.

It seems that not only are the tea towels a great idea for a wedding invite, great for the environment and a pretty unique idea, but they also encourage your guests to RSVP, something that's not easy to do.

We've finally got round to including a new design on the site, the 'Thank You Donkey's' are the third standard design of the range and answer the demand for a 'Thank You' design.

We've had a few requests for Wedding Favours, so of course we were happy to oblige, and what's great for you is now, is you only have to pay the standard artwork charge for your Thank You design.

We plan to add more designs in the summer and perhaps even some seasonal wedding invites nearer Christmas. Keep checking back to see where we're at, but if you've got an idea speak to us and we'll work with you to get your invitation exactly how you want it.
